William Glovinsky Obituary

William Basil Glovinsky

Feb 26, 1935 - Nov 5, 2025

Marblehead

They don't make them like William Basil Glovinsky anymore. Basil was the last child born to Anthony and Martha (Yuhas) Glovinsky, February 26, 1935. They weren't sure what to name this newest child, and Martha said, "What's one more bill?!" and his name became William. His siblings who preceded him in death include brothers, George, Paul, Norman, James and Joseph and sisters, Mariana, Marian, Pauline Gresh and Ruth Benya.

His grandparents immigrated from their homeland and settled in the Marblehead area. They helped establish Holy Assumption Orthodox Church. Their family was very Christ-filled in their faith and church, fasting, countless services, every halupki/baking day and charitable giving when the faith called. Sundays weren't the only days you saw the Glovinskys in church.

Jean Francis Monak said "I do" September 24, 1960, in the Orthodox church to which Jean converted and worshipped faithfully until her death in 2016.

Bill worked at US Gypsum for 35 years and retired early at age 55.

Bill was an accordion player for nearly 35 years with the Polka Aces and then with the Polka Dots. He played for wedding receptions too numerous to count and at every family function, baptism, and anniversary party. It was his mother who asked him to take lessons. Who would have thought that connection would even take him to Put-in-Bay and Kelleys with his friend, Don Gresh?

Surviving Bill are his children, Mary (Dan) Grieger and Tim Glovinsky; grandchildren, Nate (Kelley) Brown, Ryan (Anne) Brown, and Kiya (Ali) Attar; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jack, Sam, Hannah, Tessa, Luke, Ethan, Audrey, and Reina.

Bill's son, Tim, was always helping him in any way he could, especially in the last few years of his life. Tim was a loving son to both Bill and Jean. There was seldom a dinner meal that they didn't share. Bill was always a big supporter of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he was present for many activities and special events throughout their lives.

After arguing with God, Bill passed peacefully Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
