Willard Bores Obituary

Willard F. Bores

Feb 19, 1941 - Aug 12, 2024

Norwalk

Willard F. Bores, 83, of Norwalk, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2024, at Stein Hospice in Sandusky.

He was born Feb. 19, 1941, in Monroeville, to Leo and Irene (Wilhelm) Bores. A lifelong resident of the area, Willard attended both Norwalk and Norwalk St. Paul High School. He married Gwendoline (Goostree) Bores in 1962.

Willard appreciated the simple things in life. He taught those around him many life lessons including the value of hard work by his example. A jack of all trades, he could fix almost anything from cars to washing machines. He was a father figure to many people and would give the shirt off his back to any one that asked. Willard was extremely resourceful. He enjoyed camping and built a camper from a school bus. He and his loving wife, Gwen, traveled to 48 of the 50 states, where they built many memories over the years. Willard had a fascination with historical sites and enjoyed going through all of the exhibits in the museums. He especially loved seeing Gettysburg, South Carolina, and Montana.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Gwen Bores; children, Mark (Janine) Bores, Melvin (Marla) Bores, Mitchell (Tina) Bores, Melanie (David) Davidson, and Keith (Amber) Bores; twin brother, Eugene Bores; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and many other friends and family members.

Willard was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Irene (Wilhelm) Bores; children, Marvin Bores, Marie Bores, and Marty Bores; siblings, Leon Bores, Florence Sprowl, Cindy Sprowl, and Charles Bores; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Doug and Eunice Goostree; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In keeping with Willard's wishes, there will be no public services at this time. Willard's celebration of life will take place at a later date.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to all of the staff of Stein Hospice and Providence Care Center in Sandusky for their countless acts of kindness and generosity. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made in Willard's name to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870.
