Werner W. ("Sonny") Hall Jr. passed away peacefully Friday, October 24, 2025, surrounded by the wonderful and caring staff at Parkvue Community, who treated him like family.

Born April 14, 1948, to Werner Hall Sr. and Orma Hall, Werner grew up in Sandusky, and attended Sandusky High School. He was a proud member of the 1965 State Championship Football Team and was later inducted into the Sandusky High School Hall of Fame. He continued his academic and athletic career at the University of Michigan (also fondly referred to as "TTUN"), where he played football alongside fellow SHS teammates Brian Healy and Tommy Darden.

After graduating, Werner remained at the University of Michigan as a graduate assistant coach under Coach Bo Schembechler-a treasured period of learning and growth that he often reflected on fondly. He later moved to Columbus, where he worked for Drug Emporium, eventually becoming a manager and overseeing stores in Columbus, Kansas City, Missouri, and later Los Angeles, California, where he relocated in 1994.

Following the franchise's closure, Werner joined Bodycote heat treating as a shift manager, a role he held until his retirement in 2014. In 2021, after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, he returned to Sandusky to be closer to family.

Werner was a devoted son to Werner Sr. and Orma, a beloved brother to Judy Tann and James Hall, a brother-in-law to Michael Tann and Deborah Hall, and an uncle to Stephen and Brian Tann. Though he never married, he was a treasured and loyal friend to all who knew him. He had a special gift for connection-whether tending bar in his spare time, where he engaged warmly with everyone who walked through the door, or enjoying memorable golf trips with his group to Mexico and Hawaii.

His earthly presence, though no longer with us, will remain forever in our hearts. We will always cherish his laughter and the many family vacations shared in California, Key West, and the countless postcard-perfect holidays and special occasions celebrated at Captain Montague's B&B in Huron, where his sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Mike Tann, were innkeepers for 20 years.

Sonny was cremated, and the family gathered privately over the recent Thanksgiving holiday to share stories, memories, and a memorial croquet tournament, a cherished family tradition.
