Wendi Agsten Obituary

Wendi K. Agsten

Feb 4, 1961 - Dec 18, 2024

Sandusky

Wendi Kay Agsten, 63, passed away after a brief illness Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, at Stein Hospice Care Center with her husband holding her hand.

Born Feb. 4, 1961, to the late Rodger L. and Kay A. (Hazelton) Cliff, Wendi's vibrant spirit and creative passion for life touched all who knew her.

Wendi graduated from Sandusky High School in 1979. She had a passion for making life more beautiful, bringing color and joy to everything she touched. Wendi was a professional seamstress and could do everything from altering bridal dresses to creating circus costumes. Whether sewing creations for loved ones or leading initiatives at Perkins PTO, she poured her heart into helping others. A lifelong member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ, Wendi sang in the choir and played in the bell choir. Her connection to nature was profound. Wendi loved walking at Sheldon Marsh, admiring Lake Erie, and bird watching. She was a proud member of Black Swamp Bird Observatory and a dedicated advocate for environmental preservation and justice. A Girl Scout in her youth and a troop leader for her daughter, Wendi inspired others with her leadership and compassion. She also supported one of her children in launching their business, exemplifying her unwavering commitment to her children and their dreams.

Wendi is survived by her husband of 35 years, Thomas R. Agsten; two children, Rhuari Agsten of Sandusky and Elora (Tyler Owens) Agsten of Wooster; two brothers, Rodger (Cory) Cliff of Lorain and Craig (Sarah) Cliff of Maumee; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and two pet birds, Elphie and Nida.

In addition to her parents, Wendi is preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Reagan Cliff.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of Memorial services at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with Pastor Jerald Fenske presiding. A private inurnment will take place at St. Stephen UCC columbarium in Sandusky. Elora,

My heart goes out to you and your family in this heartbreaking time. Try to remember that God never puts more on us than we can bear. I remember your mother from dance when we did ballet together, especially the year we did the hallmark card dance and had to create our cards. She did such an a amazing job on them. That vibrant spirit she had, I remember all these years later from our brief encounters, and she definitely passed it down to you. My deepest condolences.
