So sorry to hear about Virginia, she was a wonderful lady. She did a lot for Norwalk. I always enjoyed my visits with her.

Condolences to you Janet ,Deb and family. As you may recall,in 1964 while in 1st grade at Benedict, I tumbled over the top of the slide in a terrible accident. With an open head wound and broken arm, I sat on Virginia's lap as the school nurse drove me to the ER. I bled all over your mom but was comforted in her embrace. I always enjoyed stopping in to see her and your dad back in the day....

My deepest sympathies to Deb, Janet and extended family on Virginia's passing. Besides being a favorite and impactful teacher and thoughtful Mother, her rise to Superintendent and consummate professionalism were inspiring to a young career woman. Over the years I so appreciated knowing her, especially in recent years as life started changing for her. Bless her daughters who loved and cared for and cajoled her. Their relationships are to be emulated. Rest in Peace, Virginia.

I began my teaching career at Maplehurst Elementary in Norwalk. At that time Virginia´s administrative position required her to observe first year teachers and to mentor them. That was my first experience with being " evaluated". Mrs. Poling, as I knew her, was such a supportive mentor. She had the ability to share what you could improve, while pointing out all of your good skills. You can tell she made an impression on me, because 48 years later, I remember her and have gratitude for how she shaped me as an educator. She was a great teacher!
