Terry Fitzthum Obituary

Terry John Fitzthum

May 5, 1957 - Aug 21, 2025

Sandusky

Terry John Fitzthum, 68, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 21, 2025, surrounded by his children.

Terry was born May 5, 1957, in Sandusky, to Peggy Fitzthum and the late John Fitzthum.

He graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1975 and remained in Sandusky his entire life. Terry retired from Ford Motor Company after nearly 30 years of hard work. He was a member of American Legion, Eagles and Orioles Club for decades and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2529. Terry was active in National Dads of Foreign Service Veterans, representing his pride for his oldest daughter and her time in the service.

He enjoyed woodworking in the garage and spending time with his son "tinkering" as he often called it. He could fix or build nearly anything and was always "working on something". He loved music and instilled an appreciation for classic rock in all his children. Terry was a man of few words but told many dad jokes that were just bad enough to make everyone laugh. He enjoyed being outside and relished passing on his wisdom of plants and birds to his youngest daughter. He loved his friends and would buy a beer for anyone who sat next to him.

Terry is survived by his mother, Peggy Fitzthum, whom he had a very special bond; two sisters, Beverly DiClaudio and Anna (Cookie) Jones; daughter, Miranda Willis; daughter, Rachel Johnson (Anthony Johnson); son, Joshua Fitzthum (Amanda Fitzthum); granddaughter, Adalyn Johnson; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to his father, Terry is preceded in death by his sister, Diana (Nina) Knoll; and brother, David Fitzthum.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all who have provided prayers and positive thoughts to him and the entire family. Thank you to Parkvue Nursing Facility and Stein Hospice for your dedication to his care. A special thank you to Beverly DiClaudio, Andrea "Julio" Maczuga and the entire Hasenmeier family for your unwavering presence, meals, visits, love, laughter and companionship you gave him.

Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until time of memorial service at 1 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2025, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave. Sandusky.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to honor Terry's life can be made to Stein Hospice Services, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870 or online at https://www.hospicewr.org/stein-hospice.
