Stephen Michael Wasiniak
Oct 29, 1973 - Aug 30, 2024
Norwalk
Stephen M. "Steve" Wasiniak, 50, of Norwalk, passed from this life to the next Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy (over eight years) and incredibly courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Oct. 29, 1973, in Norwalk, to James and Cheryl (Hartman) Wasiniak. Steve went to St. Mary's Elementary School and graduated from Norwalk St. Paul and EHOVE in 1992. He attended Denver Automotive Diesel School and often spoke fondly of his time in the region.
Steve was a hard worker. He owned and operated Wazu Concrete Pumping. Through the years, he worked for Smith Paving, BOCA, Oglesby Construction, Wasiniak Construction, and McDonald's, where he claims he was frequently "the employee of the month."
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed winter sports, snowmobiling, skiing, cutting wood, and trips on his side by side. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and husband to an amazing wife.
Steve's fight was not only courageous, but inspiring. He often focused much of his energy on visiting others who struggled with similar cancers to help encourage them. He deeply believed in the purpose of the Piggyback Foundation and supported them however he could.
Steve's survivors include his parents, James and Cheryl Wasiniak; loving wife, Julie (Fox) Wasiniak; children, Brittany (Nick) Hamilton, Courtney Clark (Jake) Cannon, Ross (Madison) Clark, Cole Wasiniak (Danielle Ott), Alex (Christina) Haynes, Drew (Laura) Haynes, Logan Haynes, and Luke Haynes; grandchildren, Reese, Mason, Amelia, Kenni, Payton, and Gideon; siblings, Andy (Betsy) Wasiniak, Diane (Drew) Bouza, and John (Shannon) Wasiniak; numerous nieces and nephews; and a ton of friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and aunt, Kathy.
