Shirley Watrous Obituary

Shirley Mae (Steibly) Watrous

Mar 8, 1934 - Nov 7, 2025

Mesa, AZ

Shirley Mae Watrous (Steibly), 91, passed away peacefully Friday, November 7, 2025.

Born and raised in Huron, Ohio, Shirley was the daughter of Joseph and Augusta (Paulich) "Gussie" Steibly.

She graduated from Huron High School and shortly thereafter moved to California. Shirley had a fun, adventurous life early on in California with her many friends in Los Angeles. She later settled in San Diego to work and raise her family. She worked in both construction and insurance. Shirley loved reading, crosswords, knitting and quilting, but most of all she loved her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Gregory Sieberer; daughters, Karen Harmon and Kathleen Sieberer; her beloved grandchildren, Scottie Thompson, Chanele Tafulu-Sieberer, and Kenneth Johnson; her great-grandson, Kovi Pettiford; and her half sisters, Sharon Orihill and Karen Vlach.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles "Bud" Watrous; and her beautiful sister, Nancy Ruffing.

Burial will be in Scott Cemetery, Huron.

The family will have a Celebration of Life and receive friends on May 30, 2026, in Huron. Details to follow.

Our mother was a beautiful, kind, hardworking and generous soul. She sacrificed and provided wholeheartedly to her family, whom she so dearly loved.

I am so sorry to read of Shirley´s passing. We have been friends since first meeting in Huron School in 6th grade. We graduated together and have stayed friends all these years. We lived close to each other and spent lots of fun times together. I visited her in California and we had lunch with other classmates whenever she came to Ohio. She was a very special woman. My heartfelt condolences.
