Shirley A. Obermiller, 90, of Oak Harbor and formerly of Norwalk, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Valley View Health Campus, Fremont.
She was born Sept. 29, 1931, in South Amherst, the daughter of Mitchell and Helen (Hassinger) Gowrylok. She married James W. Obermiller on Sept. 17, 1950, and he preceded her in death June 6, 2004.
Shirley met her husband working at her mom and dad's restaurant, The Nickel Plate Diner, Norwalk. She was a volunteer library assistant at St. Paul Catholic Elementary School, Norwalk, and she also worked for Fisher Titus Memorial Hospital. She was the ultimate mother for her entire family!
Shirley is survived by her children, James A. (Judy Mueser) Obermiller of Cambridge, Rebecca (Burton) Whitehead of Auburndale, Florida, Cindy (Scott) Henderly of Orr, Minnesota, and Mary Beth (David) Foulkrod of Lufkin, Texas; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Michael Obermiller; daughter-in-law, Rose Obermiller; and brothers, Mitchell Gowrylok and Maynard Gowrylok.
Shirley's funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 301 N. Locust St., Oak Harbor, Ohio, 43449, where visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Interment will follow at Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery, Elmore.
Memorial contributions may be given to the donor's choice.
