Secondo Zanotti Obituary

Secondo L. Zanotti

Jun 19, 1928 - Jan 5, 2025

Sandusky

Secondo L. Zanotti, 96, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully late Sunday morning, January 5, 2025, at The Meadows at Osborn Park, Huron.

Secondo was born June 19, 1928, in Montegiardino-The Republic of San Marino (a village that he loved very much), the son of Pasquale and Anna (Ceecoli) Zanotti. He immigrated to Sandusky in 1949 and proudly became a United States citizen in 1963.

He was very proud of his profession as a Master Craftsman Bricklayer having been involved in several major projects throughout the local area .

Secondo loved spending time with his family, gardening and going out fishing. He'll be remembered by his family for how he loved to play cards especially gin rummy and briscola, but mostly he'll be remembered for his jokes and his endless storytelling.

He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Italian- American Beneficial Club (where he had been very involved in a variety of activities, as well as, playing Bocce), a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsworkers, and the La Communita' Sammarinese Di Detroit.

Secondo is survived by a son, Walter (Kathleen) Zanotti of Sandusky; three daughters, JoAnn (Neil Schram) Zanotti of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Sandra (Jeffrey) Dalton of Sandusky and Katherine (Thomas Innocenzi) Zanotti of Olmsted Falls; six grandchildren, April Zanotti of Sandusky, Marisa (Mitchell Sweet) Zanotti of Norwalk, Anna (Michael Gard) Schmitt and Micah (Amalie Zarp-Karsholt) Schmitt both of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Raquel (Kyle) Kelley of Windermere, Florida and J Dalton of Sandusky; his three great-grandchildren, Rynn, Neve and Rhett Kelley; a brother, Eligio Zanotti of Franklin Square, New York; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Pierina A. "Prena" (Suzzi Valli) Zanotti on July 20, 2006; and his sister, Maria Gasperoni.

As per Secondo's request, there will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend Secondo's Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday morning, January 13, 2025, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Prashanth Kumar officiating. A private family committal service will be at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Sandusky.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to one's favorite charity.

The Zanotti Family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of The Meadows at Osborn Park for their endless loving care of their father during this time; it was truly appreciated.

Arrangements are entrusted to David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.

To the Zanotti family,
We were blessed to know Secondo. He was a skilled craftsman with a tremendous work ethic and kind personality. A true gentlemen who appreciated his heritage. We had the privilege of working with "Seconds" on our home and those were some of the best days of our life. May he rest with the Lord.

Seconds was such a great man. The Ray and Virginia Niehm family very much enjoyed having him as their neighbor. Seconds kept his yard looking so sharp all the time and he sure continued to live at 2818 Anita Drive for a very long time. Rest in peace Secondo.
