Sandra Gibson Obituary

Sandra Jean Gibson

Sep 21, 1939 - Aug 1, 2023

Port Clinton

Sandra Jean Gibson, 83, residing in Port Clinton, passed away early Tuesday morning, Aug. 1, 2023, at Promedica Ebeid Hospice of Sylvania.

Sandra was born Sept. 21, 1939, in Norwalk, to Catherine (Grimmer) Barnes and Ernest Barnes. She graduated from St. Paul High School as a member of the 1957 graduating class. Sandra was a loving homemaker for her family and was especially dedicated to the care of her son, Allen, who has special needs. She was a secretary for Missler-Gibson Contracting Corporation. Sandra had a servant's heart and volunteered for Fisher-Titus, Christie Lane Industries, and the Ann Grady Center. She was a member of Elks, VFW, and American Legion. Sandra enjoyed shopping, but never paid full price for anything. She was also a skilled crafter who made wedding flowers and thoroughly enjoyed decorating her home, especially for the holidays. Sandra was a longtime resident of Norwalk before spending her retirement years in Port Clinton and Ft. Myers Beach, Florida.

Sandra is survived by two children, Tamara Gibson of Port Clinton and Allen Gibson of Holland; and brother, Dale (Deb) Barnes of Monroeville.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Frederick "Fred" Gibson, who passed in 2022; and brother, James Barnes.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2023, until the time of Sandra's funeral at 12 p.m. at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857. Burial will follow at Hester Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Sandra's honor can be made to Cancer Services of Erie County, 505 E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870.

Tami I know times are tough right now. But you have been the best care giver your folks could ever want or need. I can't tell you the millions of memories I have being with your mom and dad. They were definitely the anchor that held FMB anchored to the shore. I will always remember our good times together. She will be heading into God's arms and to meet with all her friends who have proceeded her to God's home. Just think of all those waiting for her to arrive and get the party started. Mom was probably one of the first in line of the welcoming committee. I love you and you know you will always be welcome and have a place to stay down here. My condolences to Allen, Dale and Debbie too. Call when things settle down for you.

Tammy, my deepest condolences to you. Fred and Sandy were almost second parents to me and you were basically a sister growing up together. So sorry to see this.
