Sandra Ann (Massey) Freeman, 79, of Vermilion, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born Aug. 27, 1943, in Coeburn, Virginia, to Flavil and Bertha (Meade) Massey.
Sandra grew up in Berlin Heights and after marriage, was a wonderful homemaker, taking care of her loving family. She always put others before herself. In her spare time, she enjoyed flowers and gardening, canning, cooking, and was an avid bowler, being inducted in the Sandusky Bowling Association Hall of Fame just this past April 15. She loved being with her family the most and she lavished them with wonderful gifts often.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Raymond Freeman, whom she married Nov. 7, 1959; daughters, Lisa Weaver and Sonya (Leroy Sizemore) Phelps, both of Sandusky; sons, Dennis (Darla) Freeman of Lorain, Robert (Leslie) Freeman of Monroeville, and Gary (Angela) Freeman of Wakeman; grandchildren, James (Dawn) Verhovec, Stephanie (Ben) Mayse, Brittany Freeman, Tera (Brian) Licita, Kristin (Jayme) McMillan, Ashley Phelps, Guerin Phelps, Zach (Allyson) Phelps, Troy (Kandice) Phelps, Andrew (Allie) Cline, Natasha (Jermaine) Jones, and Leroy Sizemore; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis (Ben) Nickoli; brothers, Roger (Kayra) Massey and Ed (Jackie) Massey; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Freda Winebarger; and brother, Walter Massey.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Toft Funeral Home, Hinman Chapel, 38 South St., Berlin Heights. Sandra's funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Sandusky Church of God, 1018 W. Bogart Rd., Sandusky, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. The Rev. Sam Studer and the Rev. Harvey Studer will officiate. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

Sandy was like family to us! Her and her husband Ray were very special to all of us at Riverview Lanes. There are so many good times and stories we all had. She will be deeply missed, God Bless her and her family during this difficult time.
