Ruth Ann Reed, 77, residing in Willard, passed away Thursday evening, Sept. 29, 2022, at Willows Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

Ruth was born Jan. 31, 1945, in Norwalk, to the late Walter and LaDonna (Rekart) Gies.

Ruth was a 1963 graduate of St. Paul High School. She received her nursing degree from Sandusky School of Practical Nursing in 1965. Ruth married Harley Reed on May 7, 1966. In her spare time, she enjoyed genealogy, family research, reading, and traveling. In recent years, Ruth joined a group of friends in making quilts for the annual parish raffle. Ruth was a faithful member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Her greatest joy of all was her family.

Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Harley Reed; sons, Timothy (Stephanie) Reed and Matthew (Kelly) Reed; grandchildren, Josh Reed and Zak Reed; great-grandchildren, Hayden Reed and Carter Reed; brother, Charles (Pat) Gies; and brother-in-law, Gorden Oney.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her sisters, Barbara (Alfred) Schafer, Irene Gies, and Rosie (Richard) Fritz; nephews, Michael Gies and David Oney; and sister-in-law, Kathy Oney.

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 1322 Settlement Road, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857. Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home is honored to assist the family.
