Ronald H. Sanders
Mar 3, 1945 - Feb 28, 2025
Huron
Ronald Hugh Sanders, born March 3, 1945, died Friday, February 28, 2025, a few days shy of his 80th birthday.
Ron was born in Morgantown, West Virginia, where he was raised by his parents, Charles (Sr.) and Frances Mae Sanders. He graduated from Morgantown High School and was a gifted baseball player. Following his high school graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served his country in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged and expanded on what he learned in the military by attending trade school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to become an aviation mechanic.
Ron settled in Huron near his brother and best friend, Glenn. He began working at GM New Departure plant, where he became a tinner. He remained there for over three decades until his retirement, and was involved with the U.A.W. He was a member of several veteran organizations and was a very active member of Huron Eagles. Through friends at the Eagles, he met Betty (Moser). Partners in life since 2003, they recently married.
Ron had a great sense of humor and was always easygoing. Everybody was aware of his legendary sweet tooth and brought him treats and candy. He never met an animal that he didn't like and that didn't like him. He loved his dog, Nickles, who passed many years ago. In his later years, he could always be found in his recliner with a cat by his side – Nikki and Nathan (who have passed) and recently Baby Grey, Baby Black, Tabby, and Tiger.
He leaves his loving wife, Betty, his cats, recliner, truck, and John Deere tractor to mourn the loss of his daily presence. He will be greatly missed by his sister, Barbara Baker; his many nieces and nephews, and their children. His nieces and nephews had a special bond with him and were his lifelong friends. Betty's family joins them in mourning his passing.
Ron is now reunited with his family who predeceased him including his parents, Charles (Sr.) and Frances Mae (Mossburg) Sanders; siblings and in-laws: John (Kitty) Lambert, Joan (Scott) Woodford, Charles "Glenn" (Patricia) Sanders Jr., and brother-in-law, Dr. Carl T. Baker.
At Ron's request, he will be cremated. A celebration of life will occur at a later date.
Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, Huron, is assisting the family.
