I first met Rod on June 1, 1970 at 8:15am, recalling that specifically should speak volumes. Rod was my second boss at Union Carbide & remained a good friend for years after. Rod taught me a lot about accounting & other things I probably shouldnt mention. We worked had & played hard. I specifically remember our bowling league where we always did well in the first game, sometimes in the second & never in the third; wonder why ?
We also played a lot of softball together, but like the bowling, our ability to complete always went down hill as the game progressed.
God bless you Rod & rest in peace

Actually, Rod was my first mentor in accounting out at the Carbon. He taught me a lot about business and the game of hearts and would never tell me how his hooey stick worked. He said he spent a night on watch Vietnam to learn the secret and he never would give it up. He loved calling people pot, shiners and always had a laugh for everyone.
I remember playing Parcheesi down at his house on W. Center St. and laughing so hard that tore something loose inside of me.
Another time I gave him one of my puppies for his kids to play with, but by 8 o´clock that evening Anne had made him bring it back. Was probably for the best because pups can be a lot of work. He was always A lot of fun. He´ll be greatly missed. Tom Krupp.
