Robert Paul Ringholz, 71, of Spring, Texas, died Friday, July 18, 2025, at Houston Methodist Hospital. He was born March 27, 1954, in Norwalk, Ohio, to the late Gladys A. (Gabb) and Carl G. Ringholz.
Bob enjoyed being with his family and grandkids. He liked yardwork, even in the Texas heat. He loved working on cars and fixing most anything – most of the time, he fixed it, sometimes not.
Bob received a BS in Civil Engineering in 1976 and an MS in Civil Engineering in 1978 from Purdue University. He worked for Fugro USA Land, Inc. for 47 years in many positions and was semi-retired as a consultant since May 2023. He was a member of Professional Engineer of Texas, American Society of Engineers, Society of Soils Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering member, Chi-epsilon Honor Society. From boss Gouri Mohan - Bob's work spanned an impressive range-from earthen dams and levees to high-rise buildings, petro-chemical facilities, and fault studies across the Gulf Coast. His hands-on approach and passion for geotechnical excellence shaped the success of many high-profile endeavors. More than an engineer, Bob was a guiding presence whose mentorship and collaborative spirit made a lasting impact on colleagues and clients alike. His warmth and quiet strength earned him immense respect within the geotechnical community and beyond.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Karen Ringholz; son, Derek Paul Ringholz; daughter, Amber Renee Ringholz/Andrew Howard; grandchildren, Genesis Ringholz, Cecilia Howard (Cece), Colette Howard (Coco), Scout Howard; sister, Carol Shaffoe; and sister-in-law, Marie Ringholz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by unborn child P.K. Ringholz; brother-in-law, Thomas Shaffoe; brother, David Ringholz; sister, Kathy, and her husband Brian Meagrow; in-laws, Richard and Marge Koehnle; and aunts and uncles.
