Robert James Foley Sr., 97, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in Toledo. Born February 12, 1928, in Sandusky, he was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church and a graduate of St. Mary's High School, class of 1946. He most recently resided at Glass Peaks Senior Living in Toledo, where he made many new friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Colet (Shepherd) Foley; his daughter, Cynthia Foley; his parents, Percy and Agnes (Borsick) Foley; and his sister, Shirley (Foley) Pitzer.
He is survived by his children, Robert (Lauren)Foley Jr., John, (Ellen) Foley, Colet (Joseph) Samstag, Susan (Joel) Appelhans, and Julie Foley; grandchildren, Caitlin (Micah) Green, Calleigh (Seth) Nisonger, Emily Foley, Sarah Householder, Noah (Sarah) Foley, Seth Foley, Kristen Samstag, Kayla (Kevin) Niermeyer, Adam (Jennifer) Samstag, Jonathan Appelhans, Andrew Appelhans, Gregory Appelhans, and Carolyn Appelhans; 10 great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War. He loved gardening, fishing, bowling, and playing cards, especially bridge. Above all, he was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandpa, dedicated to Colet, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2026, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave. Sandusky. Bob and Colet's remains will be interred together at Calvary Cemetery following Mass.

Bob, Lauren and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember your dad well. He was a kind soul who loved his family and he was easy to talk to. Sending prayers and hugs to all of you! I am sure he will be missed but the reunion with your mom will be surely be awesome!
