Robert Lee Bob Bennett Sr.

Robert L. "Bob" Bennett Sr., 77, of Florida and formerly the Erie County area of Ohio, passed away after a short illness Feb. 6, 2023.

Bob was the oldest of nine children and was preceded in death by his parents, John Franklin and Ruby Bennett; and sister, Joann Bennett Smith.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Sharon Ann Bennett; sons, Robert L. Bennett Jr. of Ohio and John K. Bennett of Florida; daughter, Andrea L. Rodriguez of Florida; sisters, Mary of Kentucky, and Jackie, Barbara, Karen, and Noreen, all of Ohio; brothers, John Franklin and Charles, both of Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Bob lived a full life with many experiences most centered on service to others. He served in U.S. Army as a combat engineer, was an auxiliary Sheriff in Huron County, an officer with American Legion, and was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in the Big Bend area near Tampa Bay, Florida. He volunteered with American Red Cross helping others during several disasters throughout the states of Florida, Louisiana, and Alabama such as hurricane relief, home fires, floods, and evacuations. Bob also donated to several charities including St. Jude Hospital, Shriners Children's Hospital, and MAP Ministries. Bob was very active in church, serving in many positions with various churches and assisted in operating the Bible Broadcasting Network (BBN) in Spring Hill, Florida. He owned an auction house in Berlin Hts., opened several martial arts academies in Ohio and Florida, and was especially proud of his career with Ford Motor Company that spanned 30 years.

Bob and his wife, Sharon, parents of three, operated Butternut Farm, a dairy in Berlin Hts. for nearly a decade. He was active in 4H and supported his children's interest in showing cattle, goats, swine, and poultry. His interests ranged from fishing, hunting, and auto racing to martial arts where he achieved his black belt in TaeKwonDo and gained his certification as a PKC official. Bob instructed many students who went on to gain their Blackbelts and successfully compete in numerous tournaments.

Bob was committed to his children and worked had to support their interest in baseball, football, wrestling, track, martial arts, band, fishing, and auto racing.

As a Christian, Bob has gone to be with the Lord.

I and my children trained taekwondo under Mr.B. He was also very supportive during my time as a member of Wakeman Village Council for which I will always be grateful. RIP sir.
