Rita A. Grodi-Conley, 81, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Monday evening, May 15, 2023, surrounded by her family at her home after an illness.
Rita was born Nov. 9, 1941, in Cleveland, the daughter of Dorothy Braeunig. Rita worked at Sandusky Plastics for over 30 years, retiring in 1997 and later for a few years she was a cook at Lutheran Memorial Home. Over the years, she enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and stepgrandchildren.
She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Sandusky Eagles AERIE # 444.
Rita is survived by her daughter, Debby S. Keen and her children, Angela Flores, Geri Newberry, and Amber and Jerome Gillman; children of her late daughter, Deanna England, and David and Robert England; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; stepsons, Darwin J. "Buddy" Grodi Jr., Steve, Bill, and Chris Conley; stepdaughters, Laura Ann Walker, Deborah K. Gremling, Kimberly Sue Dion, and Lisa L. Shoemaker, Tammy Conley; and faithful companion, her cat "Max."
She was preceded in death by her mother; first husband, Darwin Julius Grodi Sr.; daughter, Deanna M. "DeDe" England; grandson, Lance Corporal James Kennedy; second husband, Augusta Conley; and stepson, Jack Conley.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2023, at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2023, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Zach Brown will officiate. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Sandusky.
The family suggests that the memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870, or one's favorite charity.

So sorry for your loss I worked with Rita at foster grant /sandusky plastics she was such a friendly lady and a good worker and a faithful mall walker me and my husband walk in the mall and we would always stop and talk to her and Glenn
