Richard Eugene Rupp Jr., 88, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully Monday, Nov. 14, 2022, at home with his family by his side after a full, blessed, and glorious life.

Richard was a life-long resident of Norwalk. He was born Oct. 31, 1934, to Richard Eugene Sr. and Elsie (Chase) Rupp in his grandfather's house on State Street in Norwalk. He was a devout catholic and life-long member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church where he could be seen every Sunday and where he ushered for many years. He also attended St. Paul Catholic Schools. He was a veteran of U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Eagles, American Legion, and VFW. He retired from Ford Motor Company in 1996 after 40 years of service where he formed many true friendships. His friends fondly called him as "Whitey" or "Poopsie."

He had many hobbies and participated in many sports. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren participate in various activities. Until recently, he attended every St. Paul football home game and watched three of his grandsons play for the Flyers. He was in attendance when they won the 2009 championship.

He was an avid fan of Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers, and Ohio State Buckeyes. One of his fondest memories was getting press credentials and the opportunity to "hang out" with Cleveland Indians and his uncle Jim in Winter Haven, Florida, during spring training prior to the 2006 season. He traveled extensively, visiting 46 of the 48 continental United States as well as Canada and Mexico, accompanied by his loving wife and the AAA trip tik.

His is survived and will be missed by his wife of 59 years, Judith (Rose) Rupp, whom he fell in love with at first sight and married April 20, 1963, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church officiated by Fr. Bodart; children, Mark (Kristin) Rupp of Monroeville, Vickie (Alan) Blair of Norwalk, and Sandra (Terry) Boyd of Buckhannon, West Virginia; seven grandchildren whom he loved and adored, Zachary (Gabby) Blair, Tyler, Rebecca, and Anne Boyd, Ethan and Zoey Blair, and Benjamin Rupp; two great-grandsons, Ethan and Declan Blair; sisters, Joyce Kriews, Janice Ruffing, and Anita Coughlin; sister-in-law, Judy Rupp; as well as many other extended family members.

Richard was preceded in death by his by his parents; brother, David Rupp; and brothers-in-law, William Ruffing, Frank Kriews, and Rick Coughlin.

Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022, and 9-10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Richard's funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk with the Rev. Tony Recker officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.
