Richard Johnston, 71, residing in Sandusky, passed away Monday, Sept. 11, 2023, at his home.

Richard was born June 7, 1952, in Manchester, Connecticut, to Richard and Patricia Johnston.

Richard was an over-the-road truck driver for over 20 years, automotive mechanic at T Gray Automotive for over 16 years, and ride mechanic for Cedar Point for two seasons before retiring in 2015. He enjoyed telling stories of his truck driving days, classic cars, building model cars and trucks, classic rock, blues, and BBQ. Richard also enjoyed getting together with friends and family.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sharon "Tia" (Bunge) Johnston, whom he married May 5, 1990; two sons, Josh (Katie) Johnston of Maumee and Nathan (Becca) Johnston of Orrville; two brothers, Greg (Michelle) Johnston from Kentucky and Erick (Darlene) Johnston of New Hampshire; nine grandchildren; two canine kids; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard C. Johnston III; and brother, David "Chip" Johnston.

The family will have a brief memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at 3917 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, followed by a party/BBQ.
