Richard Jakubcin Obituary

Richard J Jake Jakubcin

Oct 28, 1951 - Jan 7, 2025

Huron

Richard (Jake) J. Jakubcin, 73, of Huron, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025, of natural causes at Heather Hill Care Communities in Chardon.

Jake was born October 28, 1951, to Andy and Ann in Cleveland.

Jake's early years were spent between Cleveland and Cocoa Beach, Florida. He was drafted into the United States Army. After the Army, he spent many years working hard and building friendships in Cleveland's LTV Steel. As times changed, he later went on to continue his career at Leer in Huron along with Lowe's and Walmart in Sandusky. He became a familiar and friendly face to many.

In his younger years he enjoyed traveling, boating, water skiing, fishing, hunting, bike riding, collecting coins, Cleveland sports, and coaching youth baseball. After retirement, Jake enjoyed visiting family, walking his dog Lucky, talking to neighbors, visiting garage sales, working around the house, and always looking for a good bargain.

Jake is survived by his two sons, Jonathan of Texas and Branden (Danielle) of Tiffin; two grandchildren, Ava and Brody; and his siblings, Robert and Joni.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George; and a sister, Beverley.

There will be no funeral services at this time. Jake will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery in Cleveland.

In lieu of flowers, donations and contributions can be made to The Chapel – Sandusky Campus and Huron Booster Club.

Thank you all for the kind words for my brother Richard "Jake." His heart was big, his intentions were good and he was so proud of his sons Jon and Branden. Although he was living with the effects of a stroke and severe aphasia; his eyes were all knowing. For me he was a champion! Rest easy, well earned!
