Rev. David J. James, 71, of Syracuse, passed away Friday at Upstate University Hospital. He was known for his unwavering faith, kindness, and dedication to his congregations. In addition to his pastoral duties, Father David selflessly served as a Chaplain for the Syracuse VA Medical Center for over 20 years, offering solace and support to veterans and their families in their times of need.
Beyond his religious vocation, Father David had a deep love for the classic movie "It's a Wonderful Life" and was a collector of its memorabilia from this beloved film. He also had a passion for baking, an insatiable curiosity for researching family ancestry, enjoyed old movies, and cherished attending plays. His interests reflected his vibrant and joyful spirit, which endeared him to those who knew him.
Most importantly, Father David cherished spending time with his family and friends, finding comfort and joy in their company.
