Rebecca Weyer Obituary

Rebecca L. "Becky" Weyer

Dec 1, 1980 - Sep 11, 2024

Castalia

Rebecca L. "Becky" Weyer, 43, of Castalia, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, surrounded by her family. She fought a courageous battle with cancer with such fierceness and determination to overcome it.

She was born Dec. 1, 1980, in Sandusky, to Barbara and the late Eugene "Butch" Weyer.

Becky graduated from Margaretta High School and EHOVE. She was a dedicated employee at The Commons of Providence Assisted Living Community where she served the residents as a cook and dietary aide for the last 19 years. She will be remembered for her cheerful disposition, her "let's get it done" attitude and endless energy, as well as her selfless commitment and love for her family and her work family.

Previous employers include Hometown Buffet and Mielke Furniture Repair. In her spare time, she loved to cook fine-tuning "Becky's Livewire BBQ Sauce" and her salsa, along with coming up with new recipes. She inherited a love for sports, cheering on the Michigan Wolverines and donned her cheesehead while passionately cheering on the Green Bay Packers. She was an avid NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan. In recent years she enjoyed "ducking" Jeeps and being on the receiving end of a "ducking."

Becky was an incredible daughter, sister, aunt, co-worker, and friend to many. She is survived by her mother, Barbara (Williams) Weyer of Castalia; sisters, Elizabeth "Beth" (Mike) Hubans of Oak Harbor, Beverly (Tyler) Weyer-Butcher of Oregon; nephews, Matthew and Luke Hubans of Oak Harbor; aunts and uncles, Milton "Bud" and Carol Weyer of Castalia, Ronald and Sandra Weyer of Mesquite, Nevada; several cousins; and her beloved cat, Kosmo.

In addition to her father, Eugene "Butch" Weyer, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Milton Sr. and Marie (Wobser) Weyer and Charles and Janeann (Graves) Williams.

Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024, at Groff Funeral Home, Sandusky. The funeral will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, at Groff Funeral Home, Sandusky, with Pastor Wally Gilbert presiding. Burial will follow at Graves Cemetery in Castalia.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Commons of Providence Assisted Living Communities in Memory of Becky Weyer, 5000 Providence Dr. Sandusky, Ohio 44870 or to Back to the Wild, 4504 Bardshar Rd. Castalia, Ohio 44824
