Rebecca "Becky" (Baxter) Carpenter, 76, of Powell, died at Sunday morning, March 12, 2023, at home.
She was born April 14, 1946, in Norwalk, to the late Robert Baxter and Jean Rogers. Becky was Norwalk High School's 1964 Homecoming Queen and graduate.
After high school, Becky began her career as a flight attendant with Mohawk Airlines. After several airline mergers, many traveled miles, and thousands of hours in the air, she retired from US Airways after 38 years of service. In addition to her aviation career, Becky owned and operated a knitting company called Stitch-A-Name. Her talents knitting and crafting were extraordinary. She later worked for Eagle Creek Golf Course, Norwalk, managing food and beverage services, which she considered more fun than "work."
Becky married Chuck Carpenter, also a Norwalk native, on May 27, 1989. They enjoyed cruising and socializing with family and friends. They also liked spending their winters in Florida.
She is survived her husband, Chuck; baby sister, Beth Schoenegge of Powell; nieces, Tracey Reeves Ott (Dennis) of Redford, Michigan, and Lynn Schoenegge Feldman (Jay) of Powell; two great-nieces; two great-nephews; and one great-great-nephew.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Bobbi Reeves Seagle.
Becky enjoyed crafting, cards, a good joke (mainly the dirty ones), cooking, and baking. She also had a huge heart for animals of all kinds.

I am so very sorry to learn of Becky's passing, she was a very special lady. I met her shortly after I was hired by Allegheny Airlines in Columbus back in 1972. She was the 1st Flight Attendant I made friends with as I visited with her each week she was flying to work in Pittsburgh with the other crew members. I often ended up flying back to Columbus with her after I'd been flying around for the day. I was able to fly on 1 of her trips in 1978 on the last day they flew the Convair 580 and she was working the 580 trip up to Utica, NY. That was a wonderful day. I was in hopes of having lunch with her shortly after a recent conversation along with fellow Retired Flight Attendant Ed Flowers. I'll miss her very much she was a wonderful person who was great to be around.
