Nancy Joanne White, 86, of Norwalk, passed peacefully Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center surrounded by her family.

She was born Aug. 7, 1938, in Barre, Vermont to Ethel G.(Harrison) and Vincent White. Nancy was a teacher and school administrator for many years and, became a Licensed Social Worker. She worked at Firelands Counseling and Recovery for over 20 years before retiring when she turned 80. After retiring she was on the board of directors for Huron County Senior Enrichment Services. Although she never had any children, she had many dogs and cats over the years that she loved as dearly as if they were her children.

She is survived by her lifelong best friend, Helen Joyal of Williamstown, Vermont; nieces and nephews, Beverley Boguszewski of Norwalk, Kathryn (Terry) Durham of Sandusky, James (Norma) Sawyer of Yearington, Nevada, Cynthia (Allan) McLeod of Norwalk, Sally (Duane) Lucius of Norwalk, Ronald (Ruth) Sawyer of Findlay, Pamela Odle of Pickerington; many great-nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews and a few great-great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline and Howard Sawyer.

A graveside service will be at Northfield Falls Cemetery, V,ermont and a Celebration of Life service will be at a later date in Norwalk.

Due to her love of animals the family is asking that any memorial contributions be made in her name to Huron County Humane Society, 246 Woodlawn Avenue, Norwalk, Ohio 44857.

Arrangements are entrusted to Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio 44857.

Nancy was my first counselor at a time when I needed her most. I will always remember and appreciate her. Since then I´ve become a counselor myself. I contribute my experience with her as a pivotal moment in motivating me to pursue this role. Thank you Nancy, your support meant everything
