Myra Miller Obituary

Myra Ann Miller

Feb 28, 1940 - Jan 14, 2023

formerly of Huron

Myra Ann (Weigel) Miller was born in Toledo to Idabell and Robert Weigel. Myra grew up attending Catholic girls schools. When she was old enough to take the public city bus, she would go to the orphanage after school and help with the children. At one point, she seriously considered joining the convent to become a nun.

Myra married young and had a son named Robert (Bobby). She was divorced soon after and went to work at a steel plant where she met Tom Miller, who married her in 1964 and adopted Bobby. They were married for 58 years before Tom passed a year ago. They settled into their home in Huron where they lived for more than 50 years. They had many foster children and eventually adopted daughters Cynthia Lee Miller (Estep) and Mari Anne Miller (Wood).

Myra had a variety of secretarial jobs, her favorite was The Chapel, Sandusky. Myra started a prayer ministry at The Chapel and then brought their church library online. She was a loyal prayer warrior for family, friends, people she didn't know, and especially the persecuted church. One of her favorite ministries was Voice of the Martyr. Myra made everyone feel welcome and loved. She loved her dogs and tending to her beloved yard at 340 Ontario Street. Her daily routine over the past 20 years at home consisted of driving to McDonalds for breakfast and then going to a park to have her devotions and prayer time.

She would take her Bible and her books and use that time to intercede for the world and its people. When the weather was bad, she would sit inside McDonalds, even bringing the workers homemade treats and the love of Jesus. She kept little tracts about Jesus in her purse that she would leave in public places. Myra was a faithful prayer warrior for The Chapel's prayer requests, often sending cards of encouragement to the burdened.

Myra was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Weigel and Idabell (Belfy) Weigel; brother, Robert Weigel; son, Bobby Miller; grandson, Nicholas Estep; and beloved husband, Earl Thomas Miller.

Myra's memorial service will be 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at The Chapel, Sandusky.

I was blessed to have Myra as my dear friend. As her short term memory was becoming more evident to her...she once said to me..."What will happen if I forget Who Jesus is?"
I replied, He will never forget you.
She never did forget Him.
After Tom and her furbaby Sassy were gone...she longed for heaven.
I know Jesus greeted her with, "Well done, MY good and faithful servant."
This isn't goodbye, my friend, it's I'll see you later.

I was so privileged to meet and get to know Myra when she came to Life Community Church in Nolensville, TN. She brought her beautiful smile, her graciousness, her love for others, and, most of all her love and devotion to God. I was so blessed to know this beautiful lady and sit at her feet while being filled with her wisdom and love for the Lord. I was privileged to be with Myra a couple of her last days where we shared devotional readings, God's Word, prayers, and most of all getting to tell her how much I loved her. My life is so much better having known Myra Miller.

Myra was a great friend of my mom's; they both loved Jesus and they both loved handwork. Myra (and Tom) became friends of mine, too, and of my family. We loved visiting them when we were in Huron. I know that Myra and Tom prayed for us and our ministry often. God blessed us through their prayers and friendship.

Myra will live on with all of those she came to friend and shared her joy for God. I know the following is oh so true when it comes to my dear friend...
"God looked around His garden and He found an empty place. He then looked down upon Myra and saw her loving face. He put His arms around her and lifted her to rest. His Garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best."
