Fred Lemell, Jr., a lifelong resident of Beaumont, Texas, was born on July 5, 1949, to Fred Lemell, Sr. and Virgie Gordon Lemell. He passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.
Fred graduated from Charlton Pollard High School in 1967 and earned an A.A.S. in Drafting from Lamar University. After 40 years of dedicated service, he retired in 2012 from his role as a Supervisor for the Parks & Recreation Department with the City of Beaumont.
From an early age, Fred accepted Christ and devoted his life to serving his community, family, and friends. He was a gentleman, devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. Fred was a committed servant of the Lord, always caring for and serving others with compassion and vigilance. His natural inclination to serve others was evident in his active involvement at the Cathedral of Faith, where he faithfully participated in the Mass Choir, Men’s Choir, and various volunteer activities. He was well respected and will be deeply missed.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Lemell Sr. and Virgie Gordon Lemell, his brother Charles Ray Lemell, and two sisters, Gloria Jean Warner and Shelia Camille Traylor.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 21 years, Willie Mae Lemell; two sons, Fred Lemell III and Bradford Lowe, Jr. (Maria); three daughters, Natasha Lovelace (Melvin), Tamara Stewart (Andrew), and Paris Lemell; three sisters, Peggy Keys, Deborah Montaque, and Cathy Cole; 10 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and many friends.
Fred’s warmth, generosity, love, kindness, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to his family and community will be remembered by all who knew him. Rest well, my good and faithful servant.
