Molly Anne (Price) Downey, 75, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022, in a place she loved, her ancestral home on West Main Street in Norwalk. She was born Feb. 8, 1947, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to the late Anne (Fulstow) and Robert Cleaveland Price. Molly graduated from Norwalk High School in 1965 and attended Sullins Junior College in Bristol, Virginia, before studying Art and Interior Design at University of Georgia, in Athens, Georgia.
Molly loved to paint, ride her horse "Kacy," be outdoors, enjoy nature, and the tranquility and peacefulness of winter. She could be described as a private person, but her love for her family and friends was certain and unmistakable. Stoic in the face of her health issues, Molly embraced them courageously with the same vigor and spirit she applied to all of her life. She was full of kindness, wisdom, and advice, often providing encouragement to others to cherish life and embrace their dreams. Molly was a wonderful cook who loved to garden and could do anything around the home. She cherished time spent at the family ranch in Wyoming.
A "cradle Episcopalian," Molly was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Norwalk, where she and her loving husband, Frederick Downey, were married in 1976. She was a former Girl Scout, member of Daughters of the American Revolution, and former Drifters 4H Riding Club at Huron County fairgrounds.
Molly is survived by her loving husband and companion of 46 years, Fred Downey of Norwalk; daughter, Anne Downey (Wyatt) Buckland of Jackson, Wyoming; son, Stewart Fish (Katherine Hipp) Downey of Norwalk; grandsons, Colter Wyatt Buckland and John "Jack" Gardiner Hipp Downey; sister, Susan (Jan) Blake of Norwalk; and mother in-law, Geraldine Fish Downey of Vero Beach, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anne (Fulstow) and Robert Cleaveland Price; sister and brother in-law, Patricia and Bradley Baker; and father in-law, Daniel Granville Downey.
The Downey family would like to thank the caregivers and first responders for their kindness to our family.
