Michael Jerry "Mike" Eldridge, 73, of Sandusky, passed away early Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, at Ohio Veterans Home following a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan. 9, 1951, is Wyandotte, Michigan, to Andrew and Willie "Maxine" (Morris) Eldridge.
Mike was a 1967 graduate of Berlin Heights High School. He proudly served in United States Air Force during Vietnam from Aug. 18, 1970 to Feb. 27, 1980. After his discharge from the military, Mike worked as a truck driver and then was a Storage Unit Manager in Frederick, Maryland. For many years. Mike had a true love for photography. He was an avid sports fan and became well-known in the Sandusky and surrounding communities for his knack at capturing all of the school athletic events.
He is survived by his sister, Eva (Robert) Hooven Jr.; nieces, Jennifer (Nathan) French, Jamie (Wilfredo Lopez) Eldridge, Jessica (Jonathon) Duncan, and Rachel Hooven; nephew, Robert (Crystal) Hooven III; other relatives; and many loving friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, James Eldridge.
Visitation for friends will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, until the time of Mike's celebration of life at 12 p.m. at Faith Church, 1320 E. Strub Rd., Sandusky, Ohio, 44870.
Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, Ohio, 44870, is assisting family with arrangements.
Memorial contributions in Mike's name may be made to the Perkins Athletic Booster Club, PO Box 1022, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870.

I am sorry to hear of Michael's passing. We dated when he lived in Frederick, MD. I have 2 paintings he gave me that I cherish. Such a sweet man, and talented painter.

Michael was also a gifted artist. He was especially good with light. The flowers, he painted for my office. They will never die.

Mike was an absolutely joyful man. His presence at events was enjoyed by everyone. In away he felt like a mascot, not dressed in an oversized costume but toting a camera and a wonderful grin. His photos captured our children's moments of victory, celebration, silliness, pride and team spirit. He was always there to make those memories tangible. He loved our kids and he loved Perkins. Thank you Mike, you will be deeply missed.
