Meta E. Tenteris, 96, of Norwalk, passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, after a brief illness.

Meta was born Feb. 27, 1926, in Heldburg, Germany, to Otto and Frieda Schubert.

In 1951, she and her husband, Gunars, immigrated to the United States, processing though Ellis Island, New York. They were sponsored by a Lutheran church and settled in Yankton, South Dakota before moving to Custer, where she worked as a nurse's aide in the state sanatorium. The couple moved to the Collins area in 1954, where she was a member of Collins Farm Women's Club. Meta was employed by the former Nortstat Company for several years in Norwalk. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her son and daughters, Raymond and Jean Tenteris of Grafton, Sylvia and Dennis Miller of Clarksfield, Ramona and James Thill of Monroeville, and Susan and Gary Jackson of Norwalk; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Meta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gunars, in 2017; brother, Eric Schubert of Germany; and sister, Lina Jandt of Germany.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857. Meta's service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the church and the Rev. Ann Marshall will preside. Burial will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk.
