Norwalk

Melinda S. Alonso-Ackerman, 58, of Norwalk, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, following a lengthy illness.

She was born March 13, 1966, in Sandusky. Melinda was a 1984 graduate of Western Reserve High School where she participated in the school marching band. She also attended EHOVE Joint Vocational School where she studied DCHO, receiving her certificate of completion in 1984.

Melinda was employed as a state tested nursing assistant at Edison HealthCare Center in Milan and also worked at Gaymont Nursing Center in Norwalk. Melinda was a former employee of Berry Plastics in Monroeville.

Melinda enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading, and sitting outside listening to her windchimes while savoring her favorite beverage from Sherri's Coffee House. She liked playing the pull tab and scratch off lottery tickets, always hoping to hit big. Melinda liked crocheting special Afghans for family and friends. All that received them admired her special skill and will cherish these keepsakes forever.

Ackerman of Norwalk; and brother, Ronald Ackerman Jr. of Norwalk.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald Ackerman Sr. in October, 2010, and Judy C. Ackerman in November, 2019; paternal grandparents, Wilbur Ackerman Sr. in 1977 and Julie C. Schoewe in 1987; maternal grandparents, Basil L. Wyant in 1996 and S. Marie Wyant in 2003; and many special aunts, uncles, and cousins.
