Mary E. Reese, 85, of Hinckley, passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2024. She was born Oct. 4, 1939, in Norwalk to Leo F. and Margaret R. (nee Schaub) Boes.

Mary was a compassionate and dedicated nurse who earned her bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Akron, graduating summa cum laude. She was a graduate of Tri-C's RN program and spent her career caring for veterans at Brecksville VA Hospital, retiring in 2004 after decades of service.

Mary was a woman of quiet strength and determination. She raised five daughters with love and perseverance. She is remembered for her intelligence, her love of walking in parks, and her love of playing cards.

Mary's memory will be cherished by her daughters, Marybeth (Steve) Thames, Sandra Hirsch, Susan Prather, Laura Swarthout, and Carla Rush; grandchildren, Daryl Cain, Colleen Douglas, Andrew Hirsch, Mary Hirsch, Eddie Hirsch, Sarah Hirsch, Sean Swarthout, Paige Reese, Phoebe Rush, and Tanner Rush; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Millie (Patrick) Pigman; brother-in-law, Charles Conney; special friend, Al Baleski; numerous nieces and nephews; and her treasured Jack Russell Terrier, Buddy.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leo F. Boes; parents, Eugene and Margaret Boes; brother, Leo C. Boes and sister-in-law, Gloria (nee Hackathorn) Boes; sister, Anna M. Conney; and grandson, Brandon Swarthout.

A farewell gathering will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, at Beach Cemetery, 2679 Kellogg Road, Hinckley, followed by an open house celebration at Mary's Hinckley home.
