Mary A. (Miller) Newland, 89, residing in Norwalk, passed away Wednesday morning, April 19, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at her home.
Mary was born Jan. 18, 1934, in Lakewood, to Catherine (Curley) Miller and Albert Miller. She graduated from John Marshall High School in Cleveland in 1952. Mary furthered her education by attending Baldwin Wallace College. She moved to Norwalk in 1960 and was a loving homemaker for her family. Mary was past President of American Legion Auxiliary, past President of National Association of Retired Federal Employees, member of VFW Auxiliary, Norwalk Eagles, and officer of Norwalk High School Music and Athletic Boosters. Mary was also a faithful member of St. Paul Catholic Church. She had a servant's heart and enjoyed volunteering at St. Paul and Christie Lane School for many years. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed playing piano, sewing, and spending time with her loved ones.
Mary is survived by five children, Joy (Tom) Rusynyk of Norwalk, Mary Jane (Wayne) Uther of Milan, Jean (Chris) Beaulieu of Maumee, Daniel (Annette) Newland of Bellevue, and Jody (Rachel) Newland of Twin Falls, Idaho; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen Gale.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Deane Newland, who passed in 1998; sons, Steven Newland, Christopher Newland, and David Newland; brother, Albert Miller; sister, Kathleen Nyerges; and grandson, Michael Creston.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857. Funeral Mass will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857. Procession and burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Mary's honor may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church, Roof Fund, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857.
