Mary Ellen Chapman
Mar 22, 1957 - Jul 20, 2024
Willard
Mary Ellen Chapman, 67, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 20, 2024, with her family all by her side after a hard-fought battle that came from complications from suffering a stroke.
She was born March 22, 1957, the daughter of Paul and Jo Ann Jones, who preceded her in death.
She was a lifelong resident of Willard and retired from Norwalk Title Office. Mary was known to have a green thumb, loved baking and cooking, and never missed an opportunity to have New Riegel ribs. From making her son his favorite carrot cake on his birthday, to her turkeys on Thanksgiving, to her world-famous sauerkraut balls at Christmas, you would never find the candy bowl empty or leave hungry when at her house.
Mary Ellen was also a music lover of all kinds, but her favorite was classic rock when going to see her favorite bands live. Known for being ornery, holidays around the table playing euchre would always end with her mother saying "Mary enough" and belly laughs would ring out. She loved hosting parties and making people laugh. Mary loved to spoil her three granddaughters and loved them with all her heart.
Left to honor, love, and remember her memory is her only son and his wife, Paul and Valerie Adams; three granddaughters, Paisley, Oakley, and Murphy; two sisters, Paula (Richard) Reber of Plymouth and Jean (Martin) Bever of Newark; nieces and nephews, Renee (Jeremy) Wooddell, Sarah (Todd) Anderson, David (Jon) Bever, Mandy (Nick) Tata, and Brad (Anna) Bever; long-time friend and companion, Thom Chapman; and numerous close friends she kept in contact with, a lot still from high school.
The family would also like to thank Otterbein Senior Living of New Albany, the nurses and staff, as well as Echo Hospice, who took such great care of Mary Ellen and showed such kindness, care, and compassion.
Visitation for family and friends will be 12-2 p.m. and 4 p.m. until the time of Mary Ellen's funeral at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Secor Funeral Home, Willard. Deacon Bruce Alge will officiate. Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Willard.
