Mark Anthony Swain, 48, of Sandusky, passed away Monday, April 8, 2024, at Toledo Promedica Hospital surrounded by family members.

Mark was born Oct. 3, 1975, in Sandusky, to Larry and Camille (Harris) Swain and graduated from Sandusky High School in 1998. He was employed in his earlier life by Double S Industries, later called Ability Works. Mark lived a full life participating in Special Olympics baseball, bowling, and weightlifting. He enjoyed watching cartoons (especially Ninja Turtles), eating his favorite food chicken, and spending time downtown watching the water.

Mark will be sadly missed by his mother and caregiver, Camille; brothers, Johnathan "Matt" Swain and Jason Walls; sisters, Melissa Swain and Destiny Swain; nieces, De'Asia Moore-Swain, Jay-Ziona Walls, Journey Newell, Za'Mora Dickerson, and Jai Alana Walls; nephews, Jason Walls Jr. and Samarion Newell; great-niece, Jaliyah Colón; great-nephew, Jay'Ceon Gowdy; aunts, Thelma (Charles) Duvall and Ernestine (Thomas) Anderson; uncle, Robert "Tony" (Karen) Harris; special cousin, Gayle Short; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry; maternal grandparents, Leonard and Ruby (Simmons) Harris; paternal grandparents, John and Evelyn (Twymon) Swain; and uncles, Herman Swain, Dwight Harris, and Leonard "Al" Harris Jr.

Mark's family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the ICU staff at Toledo Promedica Hospital and the nurses and staff at Sandusky Dialysis Center, especially Ebony Sizemore and Collin Souter, for their kindness and patience shown toward our Mark.

Visitation for family and friends will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2024, until the time of Mark's services at 12 p.m. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.

Those wishing to contribute to Mark's memory may do so to Special Olympics.
