Mark A. Naufel, 60, of Sandusky, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, following a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 3, 1963, in Sandusky, and was a 1981 graduate of Sandusky St. Mary's Central Catholic High School. He worked for multiple companies, specializing in assisting people with special needs in finding jobs. He enjoyed spending time with his children in any way he could. He was involved with his son's wrestling program at Briar Middle School. He enjoyed taking his two daughters fishing, kayaking, camping, and axe throwing where they participated in an axe-throwing league together. The only thing greater than his love for Cleveland sports and Notre Dame football was the love he had for his family.
He is survived by three children, Brock Naufel of San Diego, California, Morgyn Naufel of Sandusky, and Madisyn Naufel of Westlake; four brothers, Mitch (Mary) Naufel of Toledo, Mike (Deidre) Naufel of Fremont, Matt (Nancy) Naufel of Naples, Florida, and Marty Naufel of Toledo; nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and beloved dog, Doezer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lucille "Lucy" (Kramer) Naufel.
Mass of Christian burial for friends will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky. Father Monte Hoyles will officiate. A celebration of life will follow Mass at St. Mary's Gathering Room.
His family members request attendees wear Cleveland Browns or Notre Dame attire for the ceremony.
Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870.
Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, is assisting family with arrangements.
