Marie Severance Obituary

Sandusky
Marie C. Severance, 102, of Sandusky, passed away Friday morning, May 10, 2024, at Providence Care Center, Sandusky.
She was born March 14, 1922, in Sandusky, to Peter and Emily (Olemacher) Peterson. They moved to Avon Lake, where she graduated from Avon Lake High School in 1940. She married Joseph Severance in 1951 and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Castalia. Marie worked for Good Samaritan Hospital and retired from Firelands Regional Hospital. She was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Woman's Bowlers Hall of Fame.
She is survived by her son, Joe (Donna) Severance; grandchildren, Jennifer (Craig Jess) Keller, Caleb (Kylie) Severance, Kendra (Kirk) Fortier, and Jessica (Michael) Glovinsky; and great-grandchildren, Gabby and Brayden Keller, Jaxon Wagner, Spencer and Grace Fortier, Georgia Glovinsky, and Baby Boy Severance due in August.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Severance in 1999; and daughter and son in-law, Carol and Stanley Greene.
Visitation for friends will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2024, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Marie's funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Grace Lutheran Church, 203 S. Washington St., Castalia. Private burial will be at Oakland Cemetery.

The family would like to send much appreciation to Portland Place, Providence Care Center, and Elara Caring for the wonderful care they provided to Marie over the last year-and-a-half.

So sorry for your loss. Marie was a good friend and coworker for many years at Good Samaritan. She was always a joy to talk with and definitely loved her family a great deal. Praying that family and friends will be comforted by the many loving memories with Marie. May God bless you during this time of loss.
