Margaret Fritz Obituary

Margaret Eileen Fritz

Apr 15, 1928 - Feb 17, 2023

Norwalk

Abraham Lincoln once said, "All I am and all I hope to be, I owe to my mother." This is our sentiment about our beloved mother. She embodied humility, compassion, kindness, and unconditional love and will be missed dearly.

Margaret Eileen Fritz, 94, of Norwalk, peacefully went home to the Lord on Friday evening, Feb. 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 15, 1928, in Norwalk, to the late William and Irene (Eline) O'Donnell. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Elementary and Norwalk High School, class of 1946. She married the love of her life, Jim Fritz, in 1953. Together, they raised their family in Norwalk. They owned and operated Fritz Hilltop Gulf and Jim's Auto Wash. She also reminisced about working at Battles Insurance and Woolworth. She was a life member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she found immense strength and solace from her Catholic faith.

Margaret cherished family time playing and winning bingo, playing cards, and yahtzee (she would sprinkle her magic sugar on the kids dice), and going to Cedar Point. She loved to get everyone singing and karaoke and had a beautiful voice to share. She had an extreme love of Christmas and large family gatherings, always wanting everyone to be included. She enjoyed attending every activity she could for her children and grandchildren. She was always their No. 1 fan and even called Grandma by entire teams. She was well known for her famous "Fritz Fudge." She was an avid fan of Cleveland sports, Cavaliers, Indians, Browns, and The Ohio State Buckeyes.

She was a former member of Norwalk VFW Auxiliary, Daughters of Isabella, GGC Club, and Norwalk Bronson Conservation Club. She enjoyed her birthday celebrations with family and vacationing in Las Vegas, Nevada, and on the beaches of Destin, Florida.

She is survived by her children, Ray (Peggy) Fritz, Mary Anne Fritz, Katie (Howard) Gibson, Charles (Suzanne) Fritz, Teresa (Ken) Pepera, and Molly (Dale) Hooper; grandchildren, Joe (Raechal) Fritz, Bradley Fritz, Michael (Susan) Chappelear, Mark (Shauna) Chappelear, Sarah (Jeff) Reed, Andrea (Nate) Cooper, Hillary Fritz, Wesley (Olivia) Fritz, Nicole (Adam) Rubenstein, Jessie Pepera, and Kyle Pepera; great-grandchildren, James, Jennifer, Justin, Chase, and Nolan Chappelear, Liam and Cora Reed, and Harpster, Crew, and Sullivan Cooper; beautiful sister-in-law, Dorothy Bauer; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Jim Fritz; son, James; granddaughter, Jennifer; and siblings, Mary, Robert, Charles, Charlotte, and twin sister, Catherine Sheehan.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 38 W. League Street, Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Mary Catholic Church, 38 W. League Street, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857.

I was lucky to have met and spent time with your wonderful Mom on her many visits to Hilliard. She was always cheerful and sweet and took a genuine interest in me and my daughters. I know you all have many fond memories of her that you will cherish. I especially enjoyed hearing about her trips to the Las Vegas Casinos for her birthdays ! You're in my thoughts and prayers !
