Louis "Bud" Ward Sr., 89, of Norwalk, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, Aug. 28, 2024, at Norwalk Memorial Home.

He was born March 30, 1935, in Morley, Michigan, to Dollie M. Rhineberger Nichols and Clarence Ward.

Bud lived and worked most of his life in the Norwalk area. He started working as a farmer, later becoming a stone cutter for Cleveland Quarries. He then became a self-employed contractor after many years of experience with various contractors. His hobby was racing motorcycles for 17 years and teaching his children how to also ride and race. He was a member of Norwalk Cardinals Motorcycle Club, Norwalk Eagles Club, Norwalk VFW, and American Legion of Norwalk.

Bud is survived by his children, Louise (Bill) Hammersmith and Louis "Lou" (Debbie King) Ward Jr., both of Norwalk; companion, Joan Stewart; sisters, Loretta Messersmith, Dollie Marie Lallathlin, Eleanor (Harold) Lallathlin, Betty Hales, and Patty Karlowzz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Judy Ward; brothers, John Ward, Clarence Ward, and Stanley "Chuck" Ward; sisters, Margie and Helen; and brothers-in-law, Jess and Francis Hintz and Pat Messersmith.

Bud's private graveside service will be at North Fairfield Cemetery.
