In the early morning hours of Thanksgiving, Louis R. Dennis Sr. walked confidently into his eternal reward, as family shared stories, laughter and tears around his bed. It only seems appropriate that he left this life on Thanksgiving, because all who knew him were thankful for him.

Born in 1933 to Louis and Mary Dennis, Louis (lovingly known as Louie) was a lively soul from the start. Louie always had an ornery grin and a story for anyone he met. Louie was a kind soul, always ready to help anyone who needed it. This was demonstrated through his service in the Marines as a navigator, paramedic, and later, teacher at EHOVE, where he taught the next generation of welders. He also always gave generously and sacrificially to multiple charities.

He married Barbara A. (Hopkins) Dennis in 1964 and they raised eight children together. He supported his family as a skilled tradesman at Ford Motor Company. After retirement, he dedicated his time to growing his welding business and teaching at EHOVE. He enjoyed going out to eat most days, reading and spending time with his family. He found a friend wherever he went and never shied away from a good (or bad) joke.

As a man of the Christian faith, he made sure to spread kindness throughout his life. This is evident by the large circle of friends who considered him family. He will be dearly missed by everyone who had the privilege to know him.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 130 S. Main Street, Milan. Private interment will be later at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.
