Leslie H. Artz, 76, resident of Willard, passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at Mercy Willard Hospital. He was born Nov. 12, 1945, in Shelby, Ohio, to the late Herbert and Elsie (Mellick) Artz. A 1964 graduate of Buckeye Central High School, Les went on to become a conductor with CSX for 44 years. He was a member of United Transportation Union and Masonic Lodge.
Les was an avid golfer who was blessed to achieve a hole-in-one. He also enjoyed woodworking, archery, and fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Tschuor) Artz, who he married May 23, 1983; three sons, Jeremy (Lynn) Artz, Jason (Karyn) Artz, and James (Tammy) Artz; four grandchildren, Alison, Jakob, and Ayren Artz, and Bradley Artz; stepgrandchild, Brandon (Jessica) Shaw; four siblings, Charlene Betts, Elsie Ann Wechter, Sandy (Don) Neumann, and Larry Artz; brother-in-law, John Kaple; several nieces and nephews; and numerous extended family members.
In addition to his parents, Les was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lesley Artz; twin sister, Linda Kaple; two brothers-in-law, Lloyd Betts and Louie Wechter; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Artz.
Les' funeral will be 12 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at Secor Funeral Home, Willard. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Plymouth. Memorial contributions can be made to American Diabetes Association. Online condolences can be left for the family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com.
