Kevin McClure Obituary

Kevin M. McClure

Nov 14, 1959 - Oct 10, 2023

Huron

Kevin M. McClure, 63, a Huron native, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, Oct. 10, 2023, after a two-year bout with pancreatic cancer at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

Kevin was born Nov. 14, 1959, in Berea, the son of David Bernard and Mary Kathryn (Dee) McClure. After graduation from Sandusky St. Mary's High School in 1978, Kevin joined U.S. Marine Corps where he was selected for training as an intelligence specialist. During a 21-year career across a broad spectrum of intelligence posts, he attended Korean language training in the U.S. as well as Younsei University in South Korea. He was later trained in the Arabic language in the United Kingdom.

During his career, Kevin was posted in various positions domestically and abroad, serving notably at National Security Agency, as well as duty as a strategic debriefer. He often said though that his greatest professional pride came from simply counseling young men and women as a USMC Recruiter, posted in Akron for three years.

Kevin was the proud father of six children and 18 grandchildren. He is survived by six children he was the proud father of, Courtney Seenauth (McClure) (David Seenauth), Bethany Vardaman (O'Dell) (Harley Vardaman), Brandon McClure (Leigha Glidwell), Katelynn McClure, Douglas McClure (Chase Dewitt), and Natalie McClure; gifted grandchildren, Dahlia Seenauth, Jassmyn Seenauth, Renae Seenauth, Gabriel Seenauth, Elizabeth Seenauth, Michael Seenauth, Joseph Seenauth, Alexander Seenauth, Matthew Seenauth, Harley Vardaman Jr., Samuel Vardaman, Marek Vardaman, Jemimah Vardaman, Hadassah Vardaman, Demetrius McClure, Xavier McClure, Grayson Loew-McClure, and Reylyn Loew-McClure; seven siblings, Kathleen McClure, John McClure (May Harper), Margaret Ashmore (McClure) (Willard), Daniel McClure, Mary Mick (McClure), Joseph McClure (Lindsay Verdecia), and Michael McClure; 24 nieces and nephews; and 26 great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, David McClure; sister, Ann Bazzo (McClure); mother, Mary Kay Dee; father, David McClure; stillborn son, Nathaniel McClure; one niece; one nephew; and one great-nephew.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023, at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post # 83 and V.F.W. Post # 2529. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. He will be taken to Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, where graveside services will be conducted for Kevin at 1:45 p.m. by U.S. Marine Corp.

The family suggests that memorial donations can be made in his name to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870.
