Kevin Babcock Obituary

Kevin Babcock

May 13, 1956 - Feb 3, 2026

Wakeman

Kevin Babcock, 69, of Wakeman, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 3, 2026, surrounded by family and friends.

Kevin was born May 13, 1956, to Richard and Alice Babcock of New Haven. He attended Willard High School and Pioneer Joint Vocational School, graduating in 1974. During this time, he was an active member of Boy Scout Troop 224, where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. After graduating, he was employed at Suhr Custom Kitchens. He later decided to further his education at Ohio Northern University, where he majored in Industrial Technology and Education.

Kevin began his career as an Industrial Arts Teacher at Avon High School and ended his 31-year teaching career at New London Local Schools, retiring in 2011. A dedicated educator, he continued his own education at Ashland University, earning a special education certificate and masters degree in administration throughout his career. After retirement, he served on the New London School Board for eight years.

During the summers and full-time after retirement, Kevin logged many miles as a semi-truck driver. He hauled for Holthouse Farms of Willard, and later started his own grain-hauling business, KB Grain Transport.

Kevin was an active member of the community through New London United Methodist Church and several clubs. Some of these included LaGrange Engine Club, Corn Shellers Club, Fireland's Area Restorers of Machinery (FARM), and International Harvester's Collectors. He recently joined the Snowballers (snowmobile club) and the Wakeman Eagles.

When he had free time, Kevin enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was interested in hobby farming, restoring antique farm equipment and hit-and-miss engines, and snowmobiles. He also enjoyed traveling, camping, and boating/ fishing. He put family and friends first, and cherished the time that he was able to spend with those whom he loved most.

Survivors include Kevin's wife of nearly 35 years, Mary Ellen Babcock of Wakeman; son, Garrett (Taylor DiPlacido) Babcock of Cleveland; brother, David Babcock of Fostoria; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Richard and Alice Babcock; he was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Babcock and Virgil Babcock.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation from 10 a.m.- noon Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London, OH 44851. Memorial service will immediately follow visitation beginning at noon, with Pastor Lori Douglas Weaver officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Brain Injury Association of America, Arthritis Foundation, or Huron County Humane Society.
