Kathleen Walton Obituary

Kathleen Elaine "Kathy" Walton

Sep 19, 1950 - Jul 29, 2023

Norwalk

Kathleen Elaine "Kathy" Walton, 72, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 29, 2023, at home.

Kathy was born Sept. 19, 1950, to Henry and Helen Parry (Barszczowski). She grew up in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, moving to Ohio with her husband, Richard C. "Ric" Walton in 1976.

Kathy was a very humble person, with those outside of her family not knowing after high school she received a full scholarship to the Carnegie Mellon School of Art where she studied to become an accomplished artist. Throughout the years, Kathy enriched not only her children's lives with her artwork, but was also an active community member donating her time and artistic abilities to many local projects. In her later years, even after losing vision in one eye, Kathy passed along her love for art by creating decoupage with her grandchildren for family members and for children's displays for patrons at Norwalk Public Library.

Kathy was also a devote Christian who chose to live her life simply and would often give anyone her last penny if she perceived they needed it more than her. Additionally, Kathy passed along her love of movies to her grandchildren with many warm memories now being remembered of times spent with her while watching films, such as "The Hobbit." She also had a keen sense of humor, especially when sharing funny stories that occurred over her lifetime with the family. Kathy will be dearly missed by all those that knew her.

She is survived by her brother, Henry J Parry of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania; four children she had with Ric, Melissa (John "Woody") Woodruff of Monroeville, Richard C. "Rick" Walton of Atlantic Beach, Florida, Jessica (Josh) Kovac of Norwalk, and Kristina (Jay Petersen) Walton of Norwalk; and beloved grandchildren, Teigen, Zeth, and Keeley Woodruff, Brody and Ashley Kovac, and Jayson, Nathan, and Justin Petersen.

Kathy was preceded in death by her sister, Edith A. Parry on May 28, 2023; former husband, Richard C. "Ric" Walton on May 24, 2022; and parents.

A private family celebration will be at a later date.

Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home is honored to assist family with arrangements.

Memorial contributions in Kathy's memory can be made to Norwalk Public Library, 46 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857.

I'm so sorry to hear about Kathy. We were neighbors a long time ago but I would still see her out and about and we would always stop and chat for a few. She was a super nice lady and I could tell that her grandchildren meant the world to her. I hope her family is doing okay. I'll be thinking of you.

I worked with her in 1994 at Venture Packaging, now known as Berry Global. She was a caring and compassionate person that I'm saddened in a way, but still happy that she's at peace. God bless you and keep you Kathy!
