Kathleen Holman Obituary

Kathleen A. Holman

Jan 15, 1954 - Sep 3, 2024

Fostoria

Kathleen A. "Kathy" Holman, 70, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024, with her loving family by her side.

For nearly six years, Kathy battled a rare brain tumor (craniopharyngioma) with courage, grace, and dignity. She often told her family not to "waste" their suffering and instead to offer it up for people suffering on earth or the poor souls in purgatory. There is no doubt that Kathy offered her own struggles up for countless others.

Kathy was born Jan. 15, 1954, in Norwalk, to Donald H. Richards and Carolyn A. (Alt) Richards. She graduated high school from St. Paul Catholic School in Norwalk. She married the love of her life, Roger E. Holman on July 14, 1973, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Norwalk. Kathy and Roger, residents of Fostoria for 47 years, could often be found spending summertime fun with beloved friends at Lake Erie, listening to John Denver music, or having breakfast at the American Table after Mass on Sundays.

Kathy is also survived by two children, Nathan (Joy) Holman of Gilbert, Arizona, and Elizabeth (Michael) Miceli of Sunbury; grandchildren, Kate, Nick, Mikey, and Johnny; siblings, Kenny Richards, Janet Richards, Polly Richards, Patti (Randy) Sipp, and Theresa Wilde; sister-in-law, Patty Richards; stepmother, Jean Richards; and countless other beloved relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, (James Burley); and brother, John Richards.

Kathy graduated from Owens Community College and became a registered nurse – a role she cherished. Kathy devoted many years to working in local nursing homes as a geriatric nurse. She also worked in home health care before becoming the St. Wendelin Parish Nurse. She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church. Kathy loved visiting her grandchildren, reading a good novel, crocheting afghans for family members, or making caramel corn for family gatherings. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy of kindness, beauty, and faith will live on through her family.

Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024, at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio, 44830, where a Vigil will be at 5:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Poggemeyer presiding, who will be assisted by Deacon Michael Wasiniak. Burial will follow at St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery. Friends and family are encouraged to attend the funeral luncheon and gathering in the Parish Hall at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Wendelin Catholic Church or Fostoria Bascom ProLife, PO Box 1202, Fostoria, Ohio, 44830.
