Katharine A. Chandler, 82, of Norwalk, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, at her residence.

She was born Dec. 3, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, to Hilda K. (Daniels) and Ernest Palmer III. Katharine was a 1959 graduate of North Ridgeville High School and then moved to Olena, Ohio in 1960. In 1964, she moved to Fitchville and worked at the family-owned Beehive Restaurant which closed in 1988 after which she loved caring for her grandchildren and neighborhood kids. Katharine enjoyed playing cards, watching TV, getting her hair done, and eating spaghetti. She loved, loved, loved watching Cleveland Indians and Guardians. She never wanted to miss watching a game. She attended the Chapel in Norwalk when she was able.

Katharine is survived by her children, Dawn Chandler of Norwalk, Chuck Chandler of Dearfield Beach, Florida, and Heide (Jason) Fields of Norwalk; three grandchildren, Morgan (Kevin) Cho and Jesse and Ashtyn Fields; two brothers, Ernie Palmer of Greenwich and Bill Palmer of Sandusky; sister-in-law, Fran Palmer of New London; and many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl R. Chandler in 2016; and siblings, Dawn and Fred Palmer.

To follow Katharine's wishes, there will be no services.

The staff of Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main Street, New London, assisted family with arrangements.

To Katharines family, I am so sorry to read of her passing. We bowled together for years. Carl and Pete played softball together. RIP Kathy. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.
