Karen Dee (Wood) Streng, 80, residing in Milan, passed away Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, at her home surrounded in love.

Karen was born Jan. 31, 1943, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, to Donald and Ruth (Rape) Wood.

Karen graduated in 1960 from Zelienople High School, and was a 1964 graduate of Edinboro College, both in Pennsylvania. She started teaching for Sandusky City Schools in 1964. She completed her Master degree in 1993 from Ashland University. She was the Director of Special Education at The Northpoint Educational Services Center in Sandusky for 27 years. Karen was also a water fitness teacher at the Rec Center in Norwalk. She was a very active volunteer in Sandusky and the surrounding communities.

Karen was a loving mother and grandmother to all.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Tricia (Danny) Samuel of Perrysburg; son, Brad (Debra) Streng of Sandusky; grandchildren, Kaydee Streng, Aliceon Klotz, Garrick Horton, and Carter Samuel; great-grandchildren, Julianna, Karleigh, and Emberlyn Klotz; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Gary Streng in 2013.

Visitation for friends will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Karen's funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, at the funeral home with Pastor Doug Lang presiding. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
