Judith E. Smith, 86, residing in Huron and a longtime resident of Milan, passed away Friday, March 28, 2025, at Stein Hospice after a lengthy illness.

Judy was born June 10, 1938, in Mansfield to the late Carl C. and Mary E. (Proper) Fletcher.

Judy graduated from Mansfield Madison High School. During her younger years, she enjoyed swimming and being a lifeguard at Camp Mowana, which led to her passion for swimming each morning as an adult. She has worked various jobs throughout her life and was known in the community for working at Shields IGA in Norwalk for many years. She also enjoyed having a table full of crafts at Lake Erie Gifts and Decor in Sandusky. In her spare time, Judy loved taking daily walks, gardening, crocheting, and listening to country music.

Judy is survived by her son, Doug E. Smith; grandson, Brian (Detra Cousino) Smith; three great-grandchildren, Logan, Dylan and Garrett; two sisters, Susan (Gayle) Kanz and Margie West; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Smith; daughter, Robin Smith; and seven siblings, Gerry Logan, Jack Fletcher, Robert Fletcher, Norma Bowers, Richard Fletcher, William Fletcher, and Thomas Fletcher.

A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory in Sandusky is assisting the family with arrangements.
