Joy Eileen (Corry) Haines Funk 1931- 2025
On December 27, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, God sent to earth one of his angels to live among us. She was the daughter of the late Clinton and Everial Jones.
She graduated from Willard High School in 1949, where she met the love of her life, the late Richard E. Haines (1999). They married November 4, 1950 and to their union she became the best Mother ever to their children son, David Haines, daughter, the late Diana Neiding (2021), and son and daughter-in-law, George and Sue Haines, and the best grandmother ever to David's son, Sean, Diana's daughter, Melissa Kudela (Paul), and her children, Thomas and Mandy, Diana's son, Matthew Neiding (Jenny) and their children, Jacob and Ethan. On February 28, 2003, she married the late Corwin Funk (2020) and spent their final golden years together.
Joy worked at GE Lamp, Durkees Margarine, Huron County Children's Home, Norwalk Trucklines, Norwalk Furniture, Faulhabers and Hi-Ho restaurant.
She belonged to First Baptist Church of Norwalk. Along with her husband Richard, she was a past member of F.A.D.S. Square Dance Club. She loved to travel, paint, quilt, and was an avid reader. She treasured time with her family and friends. She loved all God's creatures, large and small, with hummingbirds holding a special place in her heart.
On August 2, 2025, surrounded by family, God called Joy and her wonderful smile back to live peacefully in heaven and to once again be with those she dearly loved who preceded her into heaven. Joy graciously donated her earthly body to The Ohio State College of Medicine.
Joy's family would like to extend a special thank you to her longtime caregiver, Becky Adams, the excellent staff and residents at the Norwalk Memorial Home, Southern Care Hospice, Dr. Pretti Gudimella, Dr. Canfield, her sisters-in-law, Doris Funk and Velma Starkey, and all of her loving friends.
